FEATURING SAKE FROM:
Kikusui Brewery was founded in 1881 in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, making it a relatively young brewery! Kikusui is still run by the same family under the 5th generation President. Kikusui’s most famous cup sake is their unpasteurised Funaguchi Nama Sake – it very susceptible to light and air and so Kikusui developed a canning method to make it safe for shipping. The can is actually a 180ml container like most cup sakes, but they fill it up to 200ml to minimise contact with the air.
Gekkeikan has been making and selling sake ever since their foundation in 1637 in Fushimi, a district of Japan’s former capital of Kyoto. Over the centuries, they have refined their sake brewing techniques to produce sake that is now not only sold throughout Japan, but is also exported worldwide. Gekkeikan Sake has an alcoholic content more similar to wine than to distilled beverages (13.5% to 16.5% alc/vol depending upon the product).
ENTER.Sake is a boutique sake collection curated by musician and DJ Richie Hawtin. Richie has been exploring the world of sake for twenty years during his extensive trips to Japan. For the past three years, through his ENTER. events across the world, Richie has tirelessly promoted sake as a core part of the ENTER. experience. Every summer he creates ENTER. in Ibiza, Spain, complete with Europe’s largest sake bar stocked with special sakes not available anywhere else outside of Japan. Now ENTER.Sake is beginning a new phase to bring its sake collection to restaurants, bars, and wine stores across the USA and Europe.
