1. CHEESE & MATCHED SAKE TASTING EVENT

Cheese expert Kiko Ito leads this tasting event with cheese from La Fromagerie paired with sake from Gekkeikan Brewery. Learn how different characteristics of both cheese and sake can complement each other!

Gekkeikan has been making and selling sake ever since their foundation in 1637 in Fushimi, a district of Japan’s former capital of Kyoto. Their aromatic sake is an excellent match with the interesting cheeses chosen for this event.

Founded by Patricia Michelson, La Fromagerie comprises two award-winning cheese shops and a successful wholesale business. Both shops feature cheese maturing cellars & their signature walk-in cheese rooms. Patricia has written two books The Cheese Room and CHEESE. Book tickets

2. HIX X ENTER.SAKE THURSDAY 3RD MARCH 6-7PM

A uniquely British sake tasting featuring small dishes by chef Mark Hix matched with sake from DJ Richie Hawtin’s ENTER. Sake range. Taste four different sakes not available anywhere else in the UK with modern British food specially created for the event. It promises to be a very exciting evening!

Celebrated chef, restaurateur and food writer Mark Hix is known for his original take on British gastronomy. After 17 years as Chef Director at Caprice Holdings, he opened his first restaurant in 2008 – the distinguished HIX Oyster & Chop House in Farringdon. Sake expert Honami Matsumoto will guide you on a sake journey, exploring how the shape and material of different vessels affects the taste of sake. Learn about the best sake ware to use for different types and temperatures of sake whilst enjoying a carefully curated selection of this delicious drink!

Honami Matsumoto is a WSET certified Level 3 Advanced Sake educator as well as certified Kikisakeshi by SSI Japan. She currently offers sake ware made in Japan to enrich the sake experience. Honami also provides sake consultancy, education and events for restaurants, retail and corporate environments. Book tickets

Sake Samurai Natsuki Kikuya has specially selected aged sake to match with chocolate from bean-to-bar artisans, Mast Brothers. Who would have guessed that unusual chocolate flavours such as smoke-infused, mint and olive would pair so well with sake!
